Manuela de Juan: Shoes That Fit Like a Second Skin

Drawn by a great passion for fashion, a young Manuela de Juan, only twenty-two years old started creating shoes… that was in the 70s… “When white, pink and blue dominated children’s footwear I incorporated the colour lines. From that moment on, I was a trendsetter.” The Spanish shoemaker is very much inspired by classic Parisian style, renewed with a unique cosmopolitan touch…
She is quite enthusiastic about rigorous craftsmanship together with the latest technological innovation… only using organic dyes that come from leaves, fruits, roots, wood, or tree bark. Nothing artificial. „My leathers do not retain odours or sweat, do not irritate the skin and are soft to the touch…
One must bare in mind the foot has 26 bones and more than 30 joints, besides all the muscles and ligaments give support and make of it a biological engineering to hold up the body weight and balance. This is something complex. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind that babies’ feet are quite different in many ways from those of adults…
They are a different shape, being wider in the forefoot and narrow at the heel with the toes often being curly. They require care and attention to ensure a healthy growth and evolution. Bones are undeveloped throughout the first two years and consist of nothing more than cartilage, so they are soft and pliable. The 26 bones in each foot gradually develop throughout the early years, becoming basically bony by the age of 7-8 years, at which point the toes have usually straightened. However, they are not fully developed until the late teens. Clearly care in the early formative years is vitally important and can save many problems in adulthood.
No wonder throughout these years, her footwear has appeared on the feet of little princes and princesses of the British Royal Kingdom and the Kingdom of Denmark. Also Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie or Alessandra Ambrosio love her shoes…

The secret of Manuela’s shoes: They are classic, refined, and forever chic!
