Family Pictures

The Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris presents Family Pictures, an exhibition of photographs regarding the theme “Family“, all shot by American authors, such as Richard Avedon, Nan Goldin, Harry Callahan, Larry Clark, Robert Frank and others.
The series does not features family portraits in the common sense of the term. Its focus is rather the bond which unites every photographer with the complex and sometimes painful surrounding, than the imaginary account of family life.
Every pictures becomes a vehicle to investigate the intimacy of the author, like the portraits of Eleanor Callahan, shot by her husband Harry through 50 years of life spent together, or Eugene Meatyard’s series of his sons, which reveals a dark side of childhood.
If you are in Paris pay a visit to this touching exhibition, alone or with your family.
