Edinburgh for kids
If you are fans of Harry Potter and you are planning a trip to Edinburgh to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the world’s most famous young wizard saga, discovering the places that inspired the author, you cannot miss a night at charming The Balmoral Hotel. Right there, at suite 552, J.K. Rowling finished writing the last book of the series: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was January 11, 2007. The room hosts a marble bust of Hermes, Greek god of travel, with a handwritten quote of the writer on the back. All the little guests of the hotel are welcomed at their arrival with a stuffed owl named Bonnie, which remembers the most famous Hedwig, Harry Potter’s owl.
Located on Princes Street No. 1, where the Old Town meets the New Town, The Balmoral Hotel, that belongs to the luxury hotels’ collection Rocco Forte, is perfect for those travelling with children thanks to the Families R Forte program, available in all of the 11 hotels of the collection, that offers a package of services and amenities customized on the age of the younger guests:
RBabies: 0 to 3 years old; RKids: 4 to 12 years old; RTeens: 13 to 16 years old.
Families with small children can travel light as at the hotel they can find everything they need, like milk bottle warmers, baby bath products, tiny bathrobes and complimentary baby meals. And at bedtime, there’s the Teddy Turndown service: warm milk with biscuits and amenities to make little guests feel like at home. A Kids’ menu is available at the restaurant and for in room dining, and if mum and dad want to sneak out for a romantic dinner they can take advantage of the 24h babysitting service.
