Hepworth Wakefield Gallery, in Wakefield (UK), is featuring J.W.Anderson’s highly anticipated exhibition, Disobedient Bodies.
This major show sees Jonathan Anderson, one of the world’s most innovative contemporary fashion designers, exploring the human form in art, fashion and design.
The exhibit showcases works from different creative fields on an equal platform, allowing them to be appreciated autonomously.
A personal selection of sculptures are on display, alongside notable fashion pieces and objects of craft and design, investigating the way the human form has been reconceived by artists and designers across the 20th and 21st centuries.
Disobedient Bodies also features a photo series by Anderson’s longtime collaborator Jamie Hawkesworth, which features 123 pupils from local schools wearing both the designer’s creations and other garments featured.
These images, as well as more from the exhibition, are documented in the show’s accompanying book.
Sarah Squires, Course Lecturer at Wakefield College, said: “Every single student took away something rewarding from the morning at The Hepworth, it was an excellent experience for them to not only see a fashion shoot by an internationally renowned photographer take place, but to actually be part of it.”
