André Butzer at Gió Marconi

André Butzer, one of the most relevant contemporary German artists, comes back for his fifth solo show at Gió Marconi gallery, presenting his most iconic characters with a selection of new unpublished works.

This new exhibition, which you can visit until 23rd of July – 2021, offers a striking reversal of his work, displaying a selection of works on paper and a group of unpublished abstract and figurative paintings in vibrant colours in which some of his most iconic characters take the centre stage again.

Butzer’s work explores the possibilities of the pictorial medium and develops a personal and strongly expressive universe which spans from the German and American history to culture, from politics to art history, from fiction to comics. In his new artworks one can find references to the characters created by Walt Disney, as well as to science fiction and to Expressionism.

It’s worth a visit with your children!
