NAME: Vanesa Lorenzo
BORN IN: Barcelona
LIVING IN: Barcelona
YOU ARE WORKING AS: Model, fashion designer and lifestyle blogger
PLEASE DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN A 1 OR 2 SENTENCES: “A woman is many women!”
Born in Spain, 1977, Vanesa Lorenzo has been part of the advertising and cinema industry since aged 11. Her international career as a model took off the day she stepped foot in Paris, becoming the face of Pepe Jeans and Yves Saint Laurent, among others. Over the years she has collaborated with many of the most influential brands and magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire… working with prestigious photographers such as Steven Meisel and Helmut Newton and becoming one of the most successful models, learning every element of fashion along the way.
A full-time worker, she was able to take a degree in fashion design and in 2012 she founded her eponymous brand, Vanesa Lorenzo, which was rewarded the following year with the Prix Marie Claire.
Being mother of two daughters, no wonder that Vanesa recently throw herself in a new adventure: childrenswear! She designed a capsule collection for the Spanish brand The Animal Observatory, “a capsule of unique classic garments that embrace, highlight and enrich children’s identity. Comfortable clothes that respect the freedom of the child.”
1. Which is the most fascinating even simple item you ever bought for children?
Fairy lights from Moma store in NYC, a copper thread with little LEDs. Also simple but the most practical: containers for baby’s food.
4. What about your collaboration with The Animals Observatory? How was it born?
I was very excited that Laia, creative director of the brand, asked me to bring some of my key garments from my collections for women to kidswear. It was a beautiful challenge that ended flowing very naturally.
Two of my priorities when designing for women were comfort and good touch. A phrase that perfectly defined the essence of my collections is “the woman is above the garment“, something that clearly fits perfectly into the children world: “the child should always be above the garment“.
I’ve 100% designed this pieces following my instincts to adapt my women designs for kids and create new shapes and colors. My two daughters gave me the inspiration for a capsule of unique classic garments that embrace, highlight and enrich children’s identity. Comfortable clothes that respect the freedom of the child.
5. Your favorite children’s book?
The classic “The Little Prince” and all the books from Eric Carle for an early age.
6. Which museum even kids would spend hours in?
Children’s Museum of the Arts in NYC.
7. You are based in Barcelona. What’s the best place for kids there?
Of course the beach but I also love Cosmo Caixa, the Sciences Museum of the city.

9. The ONE family ritual you cherish most?
