Pitti Immagine is an Italian company devoted to promoting the fashion industry worldwide. From the top down, its motivated staff fully believes in the concept of the modern trade fair as an event that is in a constant stage of renewal and development – indeed Pitti Immagine has recently expanded its scope to include other industries such as food and fragrance. According to Pitti Immagine the trade fair must create clear and stimulating relationships involving the exhibitors, their collections and the buyers and public, by offering information, and knowledge.A sector in constant growth found its first fair: Pitti Bimbo burst onto the scene in 1975, intercepting the changes in the consumer habits of families and presenting high quality clothing for children. The fair also included the first ever mini-fashion shows!

The sections, the numbers and what’s new

With 479 collections expected, 254 of which from abroad (50% of the total), over 6,700 buyers and a total of just under 10,000 visitors at the last summer edition, Pitti Immagine Bimbo is the most important international fashion rendezvous for kids and teenagers.  Held from 23 to 25 June 2016 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Pitti Bimbo is the only fair in the world that presents a complete overview of the universe of children’s fashion and is an extraordinary hothouse for lifestyle trends that has made a focus on research its key element.  From the blend of creativity and experimentation of the brands in KidzFIZZ, to the contemporary lifestyle of the collections in Apartment, from the classic-elegance of the big names in Pitti Bimbo, to the more established international brands, to the fashion designers “for adults” presenting their line for kids.  Plus, the eco–fair trade labels of EcoEthic, the sportswear of Sport Generation and the urban atmospheres of SuperStreet, all the way to the design accessories for the littlest set.  All of this is presented within a constantly evolving geography that greets visitors in a unique atmosphere, with new areas created to offer moments that can be dedicated to doing business but which are also pleasurable and entertaining, so that everyone can keep up-to-date, dialogue and have a look around.

The Special MiSE and AGENZIA ICE plan supporting Italian trade fairs and Made in Italy 

Through the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana, the Pitti Immagine summer fairs, will enjoy financial and promotional support from the Ministry for Economic Development (MiSE – Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico) and the Italian Trade Agency (Agenzia ICE). This support from MiSE and ICE, involves incoming services for members of the trade from abroad, communications on new markets, publicity campaigns in other countries and some of the most important events on the Pitti Uomo, Pitti Bimbo and Pitti Filati calendars.

PITTI LUCKY NUMBERS, the theme of the summer fairs

This coming June, with the theme Pitti Lucky Numbers, Pitti Immagine is betting on numbers: on their aesthetic, graphic and symbolic qualities.  No, we will not be looking at numbers as indices of quantity but at the beauty of the signs they make.  Right or wrong numbers, exact figures or estimates, we can end up being number one or two or zero.  Numbers are always secretly in and around our lives and the Fortezza da Basso will be happily invaded by numbers, even in kids’ sizes.  A project designed by Oliviero Baldini.

The BOF special dedicated to Pitti Bimbo

The international reference fair for kids’ fashion and lifestyles will be presented by BOF The Business of Fashion, the leading digital communications platform for the fashion trade.  A special online guide will be dedicated to the childrenswear market, to the latest trends and opportunities, to the major players in manufacturing and retailing. To mark the occasion, BOF will also acknowledge the stores that best represent the new frontier in distributing children’s clothing, accessories and lifestyle items.

Here are some of the highlights of this edition. The star projects include:

Edgardo Osorio, Founder & Creative Director of Aquazzura, chooses Pitti Bimbo to launch his first children’s collection, Aquazzura Mini. The first Spring/Summer 2017 collection represents the essence of Aquazzura, which evokes a sense of playful imagination through colour and unique textures.
A big style return to Pitti Bimbo for the C.W.F group with brands like Little Marc Jacobs and with the launch of the total look for children designed by Zadig & Voltaire.
The prestigious return to Pitti Bimbo of the Florentine brand Patrizia Pepe;
Minna Parikka, a cutting edge Scandinavian brand, will be attending Pitti Bimbo for the first time bringing its style and spring-summer 2017 collection;  
Joshua Sanders launches his first collection for little girls with an exclusive premiere at Pitti Bimbo.

PITTI BIMBO EDITORIALS, two new areas dedicated to creative ideas

From this edition Pitti Bimbo welcomes the Editorials: two large walls on the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion that, at each edition, will host the in-depth analysis of two topics, two spaces to look at, observe and photograph to obtain creative ideas.
BIKE!BIKE! The bicycle is no longer just a sport, it is a philosophy, a lifestyle, a choice, a way of moving around, a journey. From the smallest detail to macro accessories, lots of objects for two wheelers from all over the world:
KDESIGN i.e. the Kid factor of Design. There are objects that astound because of their function, their aesthetics, their shape, others because of their uniqueness: a journey into the world of design aimed at the under 10s. Useful and useless objects, furnishings and furniture accessories that shun banality.
And, in tune with this concept, KARTELL will be a special feature, presenting their children’s collection in a purpose-designed area  on the lower level of the Main Pavilion.

OFF THE PAGE…and into the World of Fashion: kids’ fashion illustrators wanted

Creativity is in the front line at Pitti Bimbo 83.  With “Off the Page…and into the World of Fashion” a new project has been launched in collaboration with the prestigious Bologna Children’s Book Fair, in order to select and propose a team of illustrators that are able to put a new and distinct mark on fabrics and collections, creatives capable of establishing an interesting dialogue with the companies.

KIDZFIZZ, Pitti Bimbo’s concept laboratory at the Archivi for the very first time

KidzFIZZ, the children’s fashion project that brings together the most creative collections by brands that experiment with shapes, materials and presentation styles is expanding and getting stronger: it is a proposal dedicated to a more evolved international public.  In line with the new kids’ lifestyle global scenarios, KidzFIZZ is aiming for research, creative exploration, the contamination between fashion and design and the significant presence of accessories.  Staged for the very first time in the Archivi – a space never used by Pitti Bimbo before – with a layout by Storage Associati, KidzFIZZ is increasingly becoming Pitti Bimbo’s concept laboratory. It will also feature a special dedicated catwalk show. Among the new names: Amiki sleepwear, Arsène et les Pipelettes, Bebe Organic, Bonheur du Jour, Bryony and Co., Deux Ans des Vacances, Elyrose, forget me not, le Mu, Little Indians, Little Ones, Longlivethequeen, Louis Louise, Luciole et Petit Pois, Maan, Maghi e maci, Merri Merini, Miss Chips, Ott Cupcakes, Paade Mode, Petit Tribe, Phi Clothing, Ria Menorca, Roly Pony, Rose & Theo, Simple Kids, Venera Arapu, Zaz Baby.

APARTMENT, luxury collections & contemporary lifestyles

In June the protagonist will once again be Apartment, the project dedicated to sophisticated contemporary children’s fashions and lifestyles: a unique section furnished according to Ilaria Marelli’s creative project that contains a sophisticated grouping of international clothing and accessory collections aimed at buyers from the most exclusive boutiques.  On the upper level of the Lyceum, a special catwalk show will recreate the atmosphere of an atelier using maison haute couture presentation methods. The new names: Deena London, Joshua Sanders, Minna Parikka, Miss L.Ray, Raspberry Plum Ltd.

KID’S EVOLUTION, from fashion “for adults” to capsule collections for kids

Kid’s Evolution is the project by Alessandro Enriquez in collaboration with Pitti Immagine aimed at a super-sophisticated audience of buyers, including the world’s most important department stores.  Pitti Bimbo will be showcasing a selection of designers involved in fashion research for “adults” who will be trying their hand at a capsule collection for kids.  On the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion, a 360° project that has already intercepted the needs of top international retailers that have successfully tested and supported the project, including Luisaviaroma, yoox.com, Harvey Nichols, Coccole, Rinascente Milano. Some of the names present: Iuri, Kyme Jr, LC23, Les Bohémiens, Mitchumm Industries, Nhivuru and San Andrès Bimbi.

Fashion Comics: eight brands dress Miffy 

Fashion Comics returns, the project which is the brainchild of Alessandro Enriquez and realized in collaboration with Pitti Bimbo.  Eight children’s clothing brands have been called in to dress Miffy, the little rabbit created in the Fifties by art director Dick Bruna who has become a character to whom even a small museum has been dedicated in  Amsterdam.  Each brand will produce two looks for Miffy who will become the protagonist of two t-shirts presented in a special area of Pitti Bimbo.  Part of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to an Oxfam project.

The other worlds within the Pitti Bimbo itinerary: Pitti Bimbo and the new Pop Up Stores

The journey begins with the Pitti Bimbo section – big brand fashions, new luxury clothing for infants, kids and teens: international level brands which present and contextualize their collections complete with accessories and projects for retailers.   And, to broaden the spectrum, the new Pop Up Stores, a sophisticated offering of lifestyle products: jewelry, accessories and furnishing accessories, plus articles dedicated to newborns alongside sophisticated baby & beauty care lines created to be suitable for baby’s delicate skin and specific requirements.  A rich and innovative selection of colorful and amusing accessories presented according to a new exhibition game. Among the new names: Babykel, Cute Cute, I Falsi di Nicole Mademoiselle, Lagoa World, Passapò, Pidipi, Vandoma.  

EcoEthic. The Green Generation comes to Pitti Bimbo

The star of one of the Pop Up Stores areas in the Main Pavilion, EcoEthic is the section dedicated to green issues: the best brands that make sustainable fashion part of their signature.  These companies, from all over the world, use organic and biological materials that are produced with respect for nature and in a chain that protects local manufacturing and small communities while helping to save our planet. Among the new names: Babylonia bvba, Coqenpâte, Infantium Victoria, Pigeon- Organics for kids, Jooseph’s Little Monsters Supply.
