WeGrow School in NYC

BIG and WeWork’s belief in creativity is realised through the first WeGrow School in NYC.

The Architect and Design team have produced an interactive learning landscape to support a conscious approach to education. The 10,000 ft2 learning universe aim’s to nurture the growth, spirit and mind of the 21st century child. Located in the WeWork’s HQ in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighbourhood the school caterers for children aged three to nine years old.

The school comprises of four classrooms, flexible workshops, community space, multi-purpose studio, art studio, music room and other playscapes. The spaces provide a variety of functions which encourage the children to move freely throughout the day so to learn from the environment around them. Each learning station within WeGrow includes furniture with details and materials to optimise the educational environment. For example, the mushroom shelves and magic meadow create a calm setting for more focused study while the reading hives form an immersive library for an organic learning environment.

Natural lighting floods the school throughout setting the mood. A playful and transparent yet homelike educational exploration for the child.
