WAWA is a children’s wear brand, established in 2015 in Copenhagen by designer Johanna Topooco, photographer Sofie Ladegaard and social media manager Amanda Hestehavefor.
The three women share a passion for simple details and a sustainable universe inspired by an unlimited creativity.
WAWA, which fits kids from 3 to 8 years old, means “child” in Aymara – a native language spoken by Indians in Bolivia and Peru.
Much of Johanna’s inspiration of creating timeless and refined collections comes from a mix between her indian father’s long-life worship of nature and a clean Scandinavian cut.
The SS17 collection Flower & Fruits combines a wannabe-tough attitude of the early 1990s with a laid flower power casualness of the 1960s!
Drawing inspiration from our parent’s youth WAWA celebrates the new season with prints and colours that stem from the best time of year.
It’s flowers, fruits, feathers and stripes on shorts, t-shirts and tunics. It’s mostly unisex with a few skirts.
And it’s, of course, organic and made in the best and most sustainable way.
