The Animals Observatory Mixes Art with Fashion
Laia Aguilar, creative director of The Animals Observatory, has recently been drawing on Italian inspirations for her collections…
Her points of reference for this latest collection include the marvellous work of legendary film director Federico Fellini – and Laia says that has been a long-standing and much revisited inspiration; another great inspiration is the colour palette of the Venetian School – especially Tintoretto and Titian, another the interior designs of Carlo Scarpa and Gae Aulenti, as well as the handmade clothes, lovingly and skilfully crafted by the often hidden talents of the grandmothers of years gone by…
For the fabrics, always chosen with children’s comfort as the first priority, Laia has chosen warm and heavy yarns, distressed corduroys, a touch of retro with piqués and open knits, sweatshirt fabrics and pleats. Once again this season it’s a never-ending inspiring comfy and playful universe that kids will love!
