Lucy Sparrow’s London Cornershop is the fluffiest, furriest art shopping experience imaginable!

Lucy Sparrow’s London Cornershop is the fluffiest, furriest art shopping experience imaginable!

East London is quite hot, trendy, always surprising and full of astonishing discoveries… Like Lucy Sparrow’s temporary pop up Cornershop… At first glance it seems just an average tiny shop filled up with fish fingers, rocket ice lollies, vegetables and million other things. Also the softest loo roll ever manufactured! However, upon closer inspection, you will discover that the entire collection of goods is actually made out of felt! All created hand stitched by artist Lucy Sparrow herself.
Via Kickstarter Lucy Sparrow raised £10,744 to fund her project in order to transform a deserted store space for one month into a fancy market located in Bethnal Green. The artist spent seven months hand-stitching and realized over 4000 items…All unique pieces… all diverse… from frozen strawberries to hand-stitched newspapers, cereal boxes, a cash register or tomato soup… So colourful, soft and intriguingly plushy!!!
Most of her highly huggable versions of everyday essentials which had been exhibited until the end of August are now for sale online…
And after Lucy has had a chance to catch her breath, she’ll be bringing this project to Brighton… transforming the new Church Street Gallery (nowallsgallery.com) into Brighton’s very own Cornershop from the 3rd of October…
