St.George: kids friendly hotel and art gallery

If you are traveling to Finland to go and meet Santa Claus, make sure to spend a couple of days in Helsinki, taking the opportunity to stay at newly opened St.George Hotel, a few steps away from the city center and all the interesting things this energetic city has to offer to families with kids.

The magnificent historic building that hosts the hotel, close to Old Church Park, portends the style and coziness guests will find stepping inside: rooms and suites with one of a kind décor that enhances the character of each of them and inspires peace and holistic wellbeing. A palette of soft and dusty colors blending harmoniously with light wood characterizes the furnishings, which give the rooms a warm atmosphere that helps relax after a day of strolling along the snowy streets.

Entering the lobby, you will find a gigantic white dragon hanging from the ceiling: it is the sculpture of the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei. The dragon is Tianwu and represents a mythical creature from the Chinese children’s tale Shan Hai Jing (“Book of the mountains and seas”). Made of silk and bamboo, with traditional Chinese techniques for kite manufacturing, the dimensions of the sculpture are impressive, leaving adults and children speechless.

The menu of the gourmet restaurant Andrea, inside the hotel, is made with fresh, locally sourced produce, while the St.George Bakery & Bar serves freshly baked bread and super yummy cakes.

In the spa area there is also a magnificent swimming pool, to take a break from the city tour.
