LULUZULU: Mischievous & Adventurous!
I almost broke my tongue… trying to pronounce LULUZULU properly… unbelievable… but it’s a Scottish brand… known for their soft and comfortable pieces… using clean lines with a contemporary twist!
As they challenge the straightforward cute factor found in a lot of kid’s fashion… adding substance or a little edge where they can… made to encourage a sense of adventure in curious children…
The majority of the collection is unisex, with the exception of a dress and skirt this season.
Everything is kept in a relaxed slouchy style of the pants and dungarees… fabulous are LULUZULU’s “naughtycal” stripes!
The inspiration of the the SS16 collection derives from the Scottish coastal roots… but also this is a bit twisted… playing with colour and mixed with the fascinating Japanese traditions of fish printing… introducing Gyotaku (Japanese from gyo=fish and taku=rubbing)… the traditional Japanese method is dating back tot he mid 1800s… used by fishermen to record their catches… and there is also such a funny thing as Koinobori… those are carp shaped wind socks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Children’s day… these wind socks are made by drawing carp patterns on paper, cloth or other nonwoven fabric.
They are then allowed to flutter in the wind in honour of children for a good future and in the hope that they will grow up healthy and strong!
